OUR FEES

At Samuel Ross Solicitors we provide transparent and realistic fees estimate. This is done at the consultation stage to give you a clear idea of our fees and enable you make an informed decision on the way forward. We provide a high level service at very competitive rates.

In the event that you are unable to pay the full fees for your matter, we are able to accept part of the fees with the balance payable in 30 days. Our agreed fees covers all works relating to your matter as stated below.

Value Added Tax (VAT)

VAT is payable subject to your immigration status in the UK.

We will confirm whether VAT( at a rate of 20%) is payable when we receive instructions to act for you.

Initial Consultation

We offer an initial no obligation consultation and the cost for this is £150 inclusive of VAT

Work included in the above fees

Includes our meeting with you, considering, preparing and working on papers, emails, telephone calls made and received.
Taking instructions in relation to your matter and confirming if the application is the appropriate one for you and tell you what other options might be available to you.
Advising you as to the Immigration rules and telling you whether you meet the rules.
Considering the documents you have provided for your application.
Prepare your application and submit to the Home Office on your behalf.
On receiving the decision from the Home Office advising you of what further steps to take, especially if your application is refused.
Disbursement are not included in the fees, e.g, Home Office fees, court and interpreter fees.

Costs quoted do not include:

Home office fees, this is paid directly to the Home Office as part of your application
If application is refused, there will be fees associated with appeals to the 1st Tier Tribunal.
Time Estimate

It is difficult to estimate the length of time for the Home Office to make their decision because it depends on the caseworker handling your matter. We can only give an estimate that less complex cases will take between 4 to 6 months and more complex cases can take between 6 months and 12 months.

CRIME:
At police station, everyone requiring advice and assistance will be entitled to free legal representation under the legal aid scheme except the client declines representation under the legal aid scheme.

At the Magistrates Court, Crown Court and other appellate Courts, you may qualify for legal representation under the legal aid. You may be required to make contributions towards your defence costs.

We undertake all of the work not covered by legal aid on an hourly rate basis, these rates are exclusive of VAT and disbursements. Our hourly rates are as follows:

  • £295 for Solicitors of 8years and above
  • £250 for Solicitors of 4years and above
  • £180 for all other Solicitors
  • £130 for Paralegals & Trainee Solicitors

There are instances we will agree to provide legal representation on a fixed fee basis. Subject to agreement, our fixed fees may include the following:

  • Representation at first appearance at Magistrates’ Court – £650 + VAT
  • Appointment in the office and Representation at first appearance at Magistrates’ Court – £850 + VAT
  • One day trial in the Magistrates Court including preparation – £1,500 + VAT
  • Advice on appeal will attract an additional cost, our hourly rate will apply.
  • Timescales of hearing dates are provided by the court
  • The amount of time we spend at Court is dependent on the Court listing, other cases in the Court list and the complexity of your case.

The fee does not include:

Instructing expert witnesses
Advice and assistance in relation to a Special Reasons hearing
Advice on appeal
Barrister’s fees if we have to instruct one in your case

Drink driving offence, guilty plea. The fixed fee for driving offence is £600+Vat = £720

Fee includes:

  • 2 hours attendance/preparation:
  • considering evidence
  • taking your instructions
  • providing advice on likely sentence
  • Attendance and representation at a single hearing at the Magistrates Court
 The fee does not include:
 
  • Instruction of any expert witnesses
  • Taking statements from any witnesses
  • Advice and assistance in relation to a special reasons hearing
  • Advice or assistance in relation to any appeal

The key stages of your matter are based on the presumption that you have entered a guilty plea and have a date for your hearing.

  • Meet with your solicitor to provide instructions on what happened.
  • We will consider initial disclosure, and any other evidence and provide advice.
  • Arranging to take any witness statements if necessary (additional cost will be calculated using our hourly rates).
  • We will explain the court procedure to you so you know what to expect on the day of your hearing, and the sentencing options available to the court.
  • We will conduct any further preparatory work, obtain further instructions from you if necessary and answer any follow up queries you have.
  • We cannot provide a timescale of when your hearing will take place, as this depends on the court listing for that day.
  • We will attend court on the day and meet with you before going before the court. We anticipate being at court for [e.g. half a day].
  • We will discuss the outcome with you. If advice is required on appeal, this will carry an additional cost.
